Hello Pedagoo,

I know that your regulator popping up on your favourite education community website may cause some alarm, please don’t panic. We come in peace (and we’re really big fans of Pedagoo.org.) I’m actually here to speak to you about professional learning.

Hopefully you’ll have some awareness of the recent implementation of the new Professional Standards. The new Standards aim to help and support teachers through all stages of their career through self evaluation and professional learning. Simply put they recognise the importance of empowering teachers to take ownership of their own professional learning as you continue to develop your skills throughout your career. (If you haven’t heard much about the new Standards it’s definitely worth checking out the dedicated section of our website. There are some cracking resources on there.)

We’re interested to find out more about the kind of professional learning that our members are undertaking and what you find valuable. We know that through Pedgaoo you are already sharing your experiences and good practice but we’d like to look deeper at why you’ve chosen the professional learning you undertake. To that aim we’re launching a hashtag on twitter that’s all about professional learning, #gtcsPL. We’d like you to share your thoughts with us through twitter using this hashtag. You don’t have to limit yourself to 140 chars either. If you’re blogging about your own professional learning and tweeting about it, include the #gtcsPL hashtag so we can RT and share your valuable insights with the profession.

Our Education Advisor for Research and Professional Learning, Dr. Zoè Robertson, (@drzoegtcs) will be kicking off the proceedings with a live discussion on professional learning on Twitter on Tuesday 5th November at 5pm. So if you have questions for us about professional learning we’ll be available between 5pm and 6pm through Twitter to clear up any queries you may have.
