Would folk like me to look into booking somewhere? Gala? Earlston? -

November would be a good time! Gives teachers lots of time to come up with ideas (2 or 7 mins is easily filled) and also allows teachers time after to think about some of the work they’ve seen.
I think a Saturday would be a good day to hold it – it really worked for tmSLFfringe2012 🙂

Yes to a beermeet! Would be a great place to start planning a possible teachmeet if everyone saw the merit in holding one. Perhaps with Nats coming in a teachmeet could look at aspects of those.
Guys – should I start looking into venues and times? How would mid to end of october suit folks? Friday? Saturday? sunday lunch?

Brilliant questions Eddie! You’re right – I’ve very loosely put them under headers. Most of the apps could be used in many different ways and hit 2, 3, or 4 or Bloom’s levels. I found I needed somewhere to […]

Ah, we usually have one or two kids which ask that. The general consensus is that counting on a clock you don’t go “11, 0, 1” but “11, 12, 1” so pupils like to go “3, 4, 1”. Last year I had one boy who wanted to […]

In Edmodo pupils are able to ‘tag’ their posts. I’ve been getting my S3 Maths and Physics classes to tag all their posts (examples: numeracy, literacy, PLP, Factorising). So come the end of S3 when pupils need […]

Hey Eddie,
We also do something similar. We ask pupils to create 2D (and moving into 3D) shapes using toothpics and marshmallows. It’s a great way for a teacher to see who has the knowledge of different […]

We’ve been using the 3H Tool within Depts at HHS for a wee bit now. we keep coming back and revisiting ideas and evaluating new procedures. It’s a good tool but requires work.

I was thinking of using a flipped classroom approach with my S2 class on the next topic (Pythagoras) in a few weeks. It’s a brilliant idea and I can see this working with the students I have in the class.
I […] -

I can’t comment for all Maths depts across Scotland, but we are sure we will be able to successfully deliver a course that gives good breadth, depth, application and challenge, and also allows pupils the chance to […]
